OpenEye Web Services (OWS) is an easy-to-use, easy-to-deploy hybrid cloud video management system that gives customers fast and cyber-secure access to their surveillance video from anywhere. OWS streamlines deployment and management of video systems with health reporting, remote serviceability and easy remote deployment.
OWS offers a hybrid cloud video management solution (VMS) that provides numerous benefits to its users. By combining the power of cloud computing with on-premises recording hardware, OWS enables seamless health reporting, remote serviceability, and easy deployment. This hybrid approach allows for efficient problem-solving, often resolving issues within minutes or hours instead of days. The cloud also streamlines management throughout the entire lifecycle of the system, from initial deployment to health alerts and maintenance.
One of the key advantages of OWS is its ability to simplify video sharing and searching. Users no longer need to download a separate player or worry about firewall compatibility, making it easier to access and share video footage. “It’s so much easier to share video you don’t have to download a player. You don’t have to make sure the firewalls are working on the external person’s email,” explains Becky Wilkey, Director of Campus Security and Public Safety for Gonzaga University.
Additionally, OWS allows for advanced forensic searching, enabling customers to find specific details such as people, vehicles or open doors. Dave Teague, Director of Ednetics Protect, highlights this feature, stating, “If a customer is searching forensically after the fact, they get to search for specifically what they’re looking for. Is there a person, is there a vehicle, was there a door open? Basically, all that stuff becomes searchable.”
Furthermore, OWS’s proactive monitoring and remote diagnostics capabilities help to minimize downtime and reduce the need for on-site visits. Paul Spruiell, Executive Vice-President of Operations for NAVCO, emphasizes the ease of managing multiple locations, saying, “Our customers can have 700, 800 or 1500 locations, but to the customer it all looks like it’s under one platform. It’s easy, it’s fast and it’s simple to just pull the information that they’re looking for quickly.”
This comprehensive solution is essential for organizations like Gonzaga University, where instant access to security footage is crucial for maintaining the safety of students, staff, and faculty. As Wilkey emphasizes, “Having OWS and having access to the cameras on my phone in an instant at 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning is imperative for our mission to help keep our community safe.”
