Learn how to easily retrofit existing CCTV installations to convert them to high definition video and take advantage of powerful cloud-based features like centralized management, health monitoring, alert notifications, and online clip sharing.
You’ve heard about OpenEye Web Services and you’re sold on the benefits of a cloud-managed system. While traditional video management systems rely on a customer maintained enterprise server to manage users, permission, and settings, OpenEye Web Services simplifies the maintenance of distributed systems by moving these enterprise capabilities to the cloud. You know that online user management makes it easy to manage permissions and access for 100s of users with only a few mouse clicks. You know that health monitoring alerts and reports keep you abreast of critical issues and potential problems to make sure video is recorded when it’s needed. You know that generating valuable business intelligence will help you grow your business and improve customer service. But you feel like you just invested in having your current analog cameras installed and you’re not ready to rip it all out for the latest and greatest.
You’ve already made an investment in your system and the labor for installation often equals the cost of the equipment so we understand that you want to get your money’s worth. What can you do to take advantage of the latest options without all new equipment? Your system may be an ideal candidate for a retrofit – replace the recorder with a new OWS-enabled hybrid recorder while keeping the cabling and cameras that you already have installed. This option extends the life of your analog system and helps future proof your investment in OWS by not only giving you access to the benefits of a cloud-managed system but also allowing you to add IP cameras over time.
The biggest cost savings in a retrofit can come from keeping your existing coax cable. There are even advantages of coax cable over Cat5 which can be run up to five times farther from the camera to the recorder before you compromise the video signal. You don’t have to compromise on high definition video either with the option to swap some of your cameras for HD-Analog cameras which can be a cheaper alternative to IP cameras but still capable of 2MP (1080P) HD video. Of course, you can also add in a few IP cameras to the system as you replace your analog cameras or to add additional cameras at any time.
A video surveillance system has come a long way since the days of black and white video , recorded to fuzzy video cassettes , stored in the back room. Digital video recorders offer high-resolution images and the computing power of the recorders, and even the cameras, gives us the opportunity to do so much more with the video that we capture. OpenEye ‘s HD Analog solutions let you easily retrofit existing CCTV installations to convert them to high definition video and take advantage of powerful cloud-based features like centralized management, health monitoring, real-time alert notifications, and online clip sharing.
