OpenEye brings holiday excitement to Central Valley School District students

Liberty Lake, WASH. – December 15, 2015 – Now entering its fifth year, the annual Build a Bike event by OpenEye provided 100 Central Valley School District (CVSD) students with an early holiday gift.
Held on both Dec. 10 and 11, OpenEye employees took a part of their day to spend with a student visiting the headquarters building. They assembled a bicycle, built simple computers, and used OpenEye PTZ cameras in a scavenger hunt to find items placed throughout the building. Along with their bike, each student received a lock and chose from a wide variety of helmets.
Many OpenEye employees take part in the company’s Child Sponsor and Mentoring program, where they can make a long-term difference in a student’s life by being a supportive and caring role model. Earlier this year, CVSD awarded OpenEye a Meritorious Service Award for the program’s impact on students throughout the district.
Students were selected from schools across the district based on several items of criteria. One standard included how well students followed various monthly character traits throughout the year.
“For many of our employees, this is our favorite day of the year,” said OpenEye CEO Rick Sheppard. “This event is a great opportunity to get kids excited about technology. It is also rewarding to personally connect with these students and to experience the joy of giving this holiday season.”
Concluding its fifth year, this annual event serves students in a positive and meaningful way, and has become an important part of putting OpenEye’s social responsibility core value into practice.
