How does Arecont camera licensing work with Apex recording software?
Arecont single sensor cameras take a one channel license like other manufacturer's cameras added to Apex recording software.
Arecont multi-sensor cameras use a single channel license based on the IP of the device when added through discovery. This means that an Arecont multi-channel device that uses one IP only uses one channel license for multiple image sensors. You can effectively add multiple image sensors with one license, which translates to many as 4 channels of video with one license. Manually adding individual image sensors from an Arecont multi-sensor camera through Apex recording software will take one license per image sensor unlike adding through Apex camera discovery.
Note: Currently all other manufacturer's multi-image devices like encoders or cameras require a one channel license per image sensor. OpenEye encoders are the only other natively supported multi-image devices besides Arecont currently in the Apex recording software, however they require a license per image sensor unlike Arecont. All other multi-image manufacturer's devices need to be added through ONVIF or RTSP and will require a license for each image sensor added.
The above has been in place since the release of Apex 1.0.
