November 3, 2005, Spokane WA
- OpenEye, Inc. today announced the total charitable contributions collected
during the 2005 OpenEye food/clothing drive. The total donations exceeded
initial estimates and tallied to just over $25,000.
The food/clothing drive took place October 26th through the 31st and
included several communities in the Inland Northwest. OpenEye employees
passed out flyers to several thousand houses and returned to pick up donated
items. “We have a continuing goal to help the less fortunate and felt this
was a great opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to the community we
live in.” said Alan Aldous, OpenEye’s CFO.
Several regional charities were the recipients of the contributions
including the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, the Union Gospel Mission, and
the Catholic Charities for Men. In addition to the food/clothing donations,
OpenEye made a commitment to match the dollar value of all donations. “I am
filled with gratitude for the community support of people like you that
allows us to be here for [the children]” said Heidi Cook Executive Director
of the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery in a written letter to OpenEye, “Thank
you for helping us keep the children safe.”
Because of its success, OpenEye intends to make the food/clothing drive an
annual event.
