December 30, 2003,
Spokane WA - Today OpenEye announced its
plans to seek ISO 9001:2000 certification. “The migration of our quality
management system to the ISO 9001:2000 standard has been one of top
management’s primary focuses this past year. While we will certainly
publicize our certification, the primary objective has been the overhaul of
our continual improvement program which has become the focus of our total
quality system,” said Jack Lynch, OpenEye’s Chief Operations Officer. “ISO
9001:2000 is a great example of how we can demonstrate our commitment to
meeting our client’s current and future needs. We believe our certification
to the ISO9001:2000 standard by an accredited and independent auditor
conveys our dedication to quality,” said Alan Aldous, OpenEye’s Chief
Financial Officer. The Camas Washington office of Underwriter Laboratories
has been contracted to conduct the initial registration audit in March of
2004. Since 1989, UL has registered more than 5500 facilities to the ISO
series of standards. UL’s ISO 9001 Registration Program is accredited by
Raad voor Accreditatie (RvA) in the Netherlands, the Registrar Accreditation
Board (RAB) in the United States, Standards Council of Canada (SCC), the
United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS), the Instituto Nacional de
Metrologia, Normalização e Qualidade (InMetro) in Brazil and the Japanese
Accreditation Board (JAB).
About ISO 9001:2000
ISO 9001 provides a systematic approach to managing a company’s business
processes so they can consistently deliver products or services which meet
their customers’ expectations. ISO 9001 links a company’s business processes
and quality management systems for overall process and performance
improvement on a continual basis. More than 100 countries have adopted ISO
9000 as a national standard. Some countries, most notably those in the
European Union, have made ISO 9000 compliance a mandatory part of some of
their conformity assessment schemes. What’s more, because ISO 9000 provides
system management guidelines and a framework for continuous improvement,
entire industries use ISO 9000 as the basis for other system requirements,
such as QS-9000 for automotive, AS 9000 for aviation and TL 9000 for
telecommunications. ISO 9000 is also the basis for ISO 14001, the quality
standard for environmental management systems..
